Eyelid surgery (Blephoplasty)

What is cosmetic eyelid surgery?

Also known as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery improves the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. It gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested and alert.

Treatable conditions:

. Upper eyelid surgery can remove excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids.

. Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision, can be treated by eyelid lift surgery.

. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty can remove excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid.

. Bags under the eyes can be corrected by blepharoplasty.

. Lower eyelid surgery can correct droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (colored portion of the eye).

Ear reshaping (Otoplasty)

Otoplasty is a procedure used to reduce large or protruding ears by setting the ears back closer to the head as well as molding, shaping and/or removing cartilage. The operation can be conducted on patients once the ears have reached, or nearly reached, their full size which typically is around 5-6 years of age.

Ear surgery can dramatically change a person’s appearance simply by making protruding ears look more normal. Often the problem is caused by an undeveloped middle fold of the ear. There may be other deformities as well, making it necessary to perform several procedures on the ear at the same time. Otoplasty can reshape the ears, reduce their size, make them more symmetrical, and/or position them closer to the head.

Nose surgery involves shaping the nose and is one of the most technically challenging cosmetic surgery operations: this operation should only be performed by experienced Consultant Plastic Surgeons.

The benefits of nose surgery include: improved appearance and proportion of your nose, enhanced facial harmony and improved self esteem.

When used for medical reasons rhinoplasty can facilitate improved breathing by correcting anatomical abnormalities in the structure of the nose: these abnormalities can be due to hereditary reasons or caused by trauma.

Nose surgery can change the following characteristics of the nose:

. Proportional size, in relation to the other facial structures

. Width, at the bridge

. Profile, with visible humps or depressions on the bridge

. Tip, that is large or bulbous, drooping, or too upturned

. Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned

. Asymmetry and deviation

. Obstruction of the nasal passages

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation and augmentation mammoplasty are plastic surgery terms for the breast-implant and the fat-graft mammoplasty approaches used to increase the size, change the shape, and alter the texture of the breasts of a woman. As a primary reconstruction, augmentation mammoplasty is applied to effect a post–mastectomy breast reconstruction, the repair of the chest wound consequent to the removal of a cancerous breast; to correct congenital defects of the breast(s); and to correct congenital defects of the chest wall. As an elective, cosmetic surgery, primary augmentation changes the aesthetics — of size, shape, and texture — of healthy breasts.

Breast uplifts

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour.

A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is more youthful and uplifted.

A woman’s breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes and loss of skin elasticity can result from:

. Pregnancy

. Breastfeeding

. Weight fluctuations

. Aging

. Gravity

. Heredity

Breast Revision & Reduction

Reduces the size of larger breasts, helping women improve symptoms of back pain, boost their self-esteem and feel better about their quality of life in general. However, some Beverly Hills women may feel disappointed in the results of their breast reduction surgery. The body may not respond predictably during the recovery process, leaving behind asymmetry or prominent scarring. If you’re struggling with the results of a breast reduction that didn’t turn out quite as you’d hoped, then a revision breast reduction may be right for you.

Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)

Gynecomastia is the clinical term applied to excess development of breast tissue in men. The cause is not generally known and can cause significant anxiety, social inhibition and self-consciousness for men who suffer from this condition.

Male breast reduction, or gynecomastia surgery, removes tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases excess skin, and can improve the appearance of the chest in cases where diet and exercise have failed. The results of the procedure are significant and permanent.

In general, the most suitable candidates for male breast reduction surgery are:

.Mature enough to fully understand the procedure

.Experiencing embarrassment and/or social inhibition due to breast enlargement

.Informed about the surgery

.Fortunate to have good skin elasticity

.In good physical and psychological health

.Eager to improve their appearance and/or comfort

.Realistic in their expectations of the surgical outcomes

.Willing to initially try dieting and exercising as first options prior to resorting to surgery

.Non-smokers or able to stop smoking during the healing process

Liposuction, is a technique to remove unwanted fat deposits. The unsightly distribution of body fat is usually due to an inborn tendency to deposit fat in one particular area of the body, most commonly around the hips. Other areas for fat deposits include; the neck, arms, tummy, loins, thighs, inner side of the knees and the ankles.

Fat cells are believed not to be regenerated in adult life: their removal by liposuction will give a permanent change in contour and be independent of any changes in your body weight.

It is important to understand that liposuction is not a treatment for obesity. The amount of fat that can be removed from a localised area of the body is limited by what is considered safe (maximum of 3 litres) and a natural limitation when no further fat can be removed. Therefore it may not be possible to slim down an area as much as you might wish. Further treatments may be carried out in the same area after six months. Where the skin is inelastic and loose, Liposuction will tend to leave the skin more lax and it may be recommended that a skin excision be carried out to correct this, either at the same time as the liposuction, or as a second procedure. This is most likely in the abdomen, after pregnancy or weight loss, the buttocks or the neck. Please also note that dimples and wrinkles of the skin, sometimes called cellulite will not be improved by liposuction.

Post weight loss skin tightening / Body tucks

After losing a great deal of weight in the thigh area, many patients continue to experience problems related to excess skin remaining on the body. These difficulties r can generally only be solved through excess skin removal. Thigh lift is a common component of excess skin removal following bariatric surgery.

Because they generally require longer incisions than traditional plastic surgery, post-bariatric skin removal procedures such as thigh lift, arm lift, or breast lift result in somewhat longer recovery periods and increased chance of noticeable every available method to minimize these scars as much as possible. The skin is tightened and sutured into its new position.

Nymphoplasty (Vaginal Reduction & tightening)

Nymphoplasty is a new type of intimate surgical procedure which involves the reduction of the inner labia, most often for aesthetic purposes. Though more and more frequent, this operation remains a subject for debate. Doctissimo takes a closer look.

Half-hearted requests

Hypertrophy of the inner labia can be congenital (from birth) but more often, this over-development in the body occurs during puberty and is made worse by giving birth. On the other hand, after menopause, inner labia tend to become atrophied and are obscured by the outer labia.

Note on Anatomy

The vulva displays parts which are visible like the mons veneris and the outer labia but also has hidden parts like the inner labia (or nymphae), the vulval vestibule where the urethral opening is situated, the vagina and the clitoris. In contrast with the outer labia, the inner labia are not covered with hair but they do contain many sebaceous follicles and very sensitive nerve endings. They connect together at the top and in front to form the clitoral hood and frenulum clitoridis, but do not necessarily join at the base. Varying in size, they measure at least 3cm long. Their external edges surface and protrude beyond the vulvar slit.

But the requests for the procedure often come from young girls, who have not had children and who are “affected not only aesthetically but physically, through difficulties involving pain during sex, when practicing certain sports (cycling, horse-riding) or because of wearing too tight clothes”, explains Dr. Laurent Benabida, a plastic surgeon.1
In fact, exchanges in online forums show that certain changes in clothing (trend for tight jeans, thongs...) and the influence of porn films in which stars display juvenile pubic areas have caused a rise in requests for nymphoplasty.

V-shaped nymphae

The goal here is to reduce the inner labia by taking away the excess submucous tissue. Lasting at least 45 minutes, this operation can be carried out under local anaesthesia, but this is a very sensitive area of the body and the woman is therefore obliged to stay in the gynaecological position. This is the widely preferred option in the United States, but in France, patients opt for general anaesthetic. The procedure is completed in the day and does not require a night in hospital.2.
The initial technique involved removing a crescent shape from the surface of the skin. In this case, total amputation of the inner labia (nymphectomy) is possible. But the large resulting scar comes into direct contact with underwear (and there is therefore a higher risk of infection, hematoma and painful post-operative complications...) so a different technique is general preferred instead; central or upper resection in a “V”3 or even two resections in a “V” of the external parts (a VV technique). This means the scar is in the lesser exposed areas and therefore allows sexual relations to begin again sooner.

The post-operative effects generally require straightforward painkillers (paracetemol based) to sooth the stinging sensations, daily localised treatments to apply until the resorbable stitches fall out, and also means sex must take a back seat for four to six weeks. During this period, tampon use is forbidden.

Be careful, however, as the post-operative complications are not insignificant, even if they are very rare.2 These include: stitches coming undone due to injury, slow healing, localised infection, hematoma and even pain during penetrative sex or changes in sensitivity in the intimate area. The two latter are thankfully mostly transitory. When confronted with these risks, it is preferable to talk to a doctor who is familiar with this kind of operation.

A controversial surgical procedure

Certain doctors and sex therapists are worried about the increasing demand for these operations. According to the experts, the dictated aesthetic norms (mainly pedalled by porn films) lead to complexes which shouldn’t be there. Some sex therapists think that the reduction of these regions of the body where many sensory nerves are located is risky in terms of feeling, and they recommend that the technique should only be used for women for whom the size of their inner labia causes physical problems, affecting walking and therefore having an impact on everyday life.

Hair Transplant

Hair Transplant for the head

Day of Procedure

Hair transplantation is an outpatient procedure that typically lasts 3-8 hours. (In rare cases the procedure takes a little longer depending on the number of follicular units being transplanted.) In general, you will feel very minimal discomfort. Our doctors use mild sedatives and a local anesthetic. During the procedure, you simply need to relax and pass the time.

Before you begin, your doctor will review your crown density and confirm details the two of you have discussed prior to any kind of surgery for hair loss, including the specific hairline you want and expectations of the results. Next, your doctor will review the procedural steps detailed below and answer any questions you may have.

Step 1: Donor Area Preparation

A donor strip is taken from the back or sides of the head, where hair is genetically resistant to hair loss. The hair surrounding the donor strip is taped or secured while the hair in the donor area is trimmed. The donor area is then numbed with a local anesthetic.

Step 2: Harvesting

The strip of donor tissue is surgically removed and the skin in the donor area is sutured together. Once healed, it will typically leave a very fine cosmetic line or scar which will be covered by your existing hair. Even immediately following the suturing of the donor area, the affected area is hardly visible.

Step 3: Separating

A team of highly-trained medical assistants, working with stereo microscopes, divide the hair from the donor strip into natural follicular groupings. (Your hair naturally grows in groupings of one, two, three and four hairs.)

Step 4: Create Recipient Sites

The creation of recipient sites is the most artistic part of the procedure. Your doctor will make incisions to the depth of each follicle that follow the exact direction and angle of your hair growth. There is no substitute for experience when it comes to creating the recipient sites.

Step 5: Placing

Follicular units are carefully placed into the recipient sites by the physician's experienced medical team. The one- and two-hair follicular units are primarily used in the frontal area of the hairline while the three- and four-hair follicular units are usually placed behind them and on top of the head for more density.

Eyebrow Transplant

Eyebrows are a critical facial feature that helps to define the way we look. In many ways, eyebrows are more important to one’s appearance than scalp hair, as eyebrows are in a more central position on the face and serve to frame the eyes (the single most important facial element). Unlike the loss of scalp hair, the loss of one’s eyebrows is not viewed as a natural process and is, therefore, not cosmetically acceptable. Eyebrows may be lost for a variety of reasons including thyroid and other systemic diseases, alopecia areata, burns, tattoos, infections, repeated plucking, congenital inability to grow eyebrows and a genetic tendency for eyebrows to thin, or disappear, over time.

Botox & Fillers

Often described as the "fountain of youth", Botox injections for wrinkles are one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the world today. Botox, or better known scientifically as Botulinum Toxin Type A, was developed originally to treat muscle disorders such as uncontrolled blinking. Later over the years it was found to be effective in reducing wrinkles and approved for cosmetic use by the FDA in 2002.

Botox treatment are used primarily to treat frown lines between the eyebrows, crow's feet and other wrinkles and fine lines on the forehead and around the lips that tend to accumulate over time, as a result of years of squinting and frowning. The Botox treatment works on these wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the underlying muscles and results are usually seen in just a few days.

Botox Treatment can also be very beneficial to people with excessive sweating (underarms, palms). On the hands, a condition called hyperhidrosis, can be very bothersome for people, especially in professions where they are regularly required to shake hands. The treatment is simple and involves tiny injections of Botox on the palms. Results last for months, and patients have reported a very high satisfaction rate.

Facts about Botox:

.FDA approved, Non-surgical procedure

.Safe - You can resume your daily activities right after the treatment

.No Scarring

Benefits of Botox:

.Reduces or eliminated wrinkles in the upper third of the face including forehead lines, frown between the eyebrows and crows feet around the eyes

.Gives your face a relaxed and youthful appearance

With advancing age, skin becomes less elastic and the sun damage contributes to the loss of lip edge definition, wrinkles and irregular pigmentation. In addition to lines, lost facial and cheek volume may also be a concern. Many women want to restore the lost volume from their cheeks that may have left them looking flat or hollow.

Dermal fillers are injected into your skin to fill lines, enhancing your facial contours and lips for natural-looking results. Depending on your particular needs, your consultant plastic surgeon may recommend using combinations of different types of fillers for the best results.

Depending on your particular needs, your consultant plastic surgeon will recommend using combinations of different types of fillers for the best results. The two most popular materials used are: Hyaluronic acid (HA), and collagen.

Injectable HA gel is a modified form of the HA that occurs naturally in your body. Injections help fill in and smooth away facial lines, acne scars or other skin contour deficiencies.

Collagen helps provide your skin its structure and elasticity whereas HA serves to provide volume and internal moisturisation for your skin. By supporting the skin’s natural collagen, collagen filler helps minimise lines, improves texture and gives the skin a softer and more even tone.

Platelet Rich Plasma

What is PRP?

PRP – which stands for Platelet Rich Plasma – is used for facial rejuvenation (hyper-pigmentation, volume loss, fine wrinkles, acne scars etc). It is a simple in-office nonsurgical procedure which uses aconcentrated serum processed from your own blood to activate the natural collagen building process.

How does it work?

A small vial of blood is taken from your arm – less than that normally taken for routine blood tests. The blood is then placed in a vial and spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells and plasma. The process concentrates the platelet count to about 4X normal. It is this platelet-rich plasma – often called “liquid gold” – that is then activated and injected into the skin.

The end result?

  • healthier appearance of skin
  • thicker dermis (reducing wrinkles and scars)
  • improved tone (hyper-pigmentation and dark under eye circles)
  • prolonged duration of fillers
  • Effective Hair Loss treatment when injected into the scalp

PRP for Face

PRP is a recent technology that uses ingredients from your own blood to regenerate your skin and to rejuvenate collagen, resulting in vibrant, fresh younger looking skin. These ingredients reside within the fraction of your blood named "Platelet Rich Plasma" (PRP). PRP is enriched with platelets, stem cells and growth factors. Once injected into your skin, these substances will accelerate the normal healing process via new collagen formation at the injected area. Because your plasma (autologous) is used, there is no danger of disease transmission, anaphylaxis or neoplasia.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections are 'bioactive' stimulators NOT a filler and it will increase collagen providing a gradual increase in skin thickness. Visible results appear after the first treatment session.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections are are effective for treating:

The eye area

Fine lines and wrinkles

Improvement in skins tone & texture

Full face rejuvenation

Dull dry skin

PRP's most exciting feature is that it is YOUR body, YOUR blood and Your plasma. Nothing artificial, nothing modified and therefore is 100% safe. It is the most natural way of rejuvenating.

What to expect

Ten minutes prior to your PRP treatment, our clinic cosmetic physician will draw ten to twenty milliliters of your blood, like taking a standard blood test, causing minimal pain and thereafter the blood will separated into its ingredients. Today, platelet rich plasma can easily be separated from blood, through a process of centrifugation. A special machine called a centrifuge is used to separate the platelet rich plasma out, which is then injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss and/or wrinkles. Using your enriched plasma permits the body to heal faster and more efficiently.

A single PRP treatment will take approximately 30 minutes.

You can go straight back to work following the treatment, but be prepared for some swelling and bruising. The swelling and bruising can last up to a week in some patients and it is as a result of the activation of the cells caused by the injected platelets.

PRP for Hair Loss

At Aesthetic Polyclinic, we have been performing PRP therapy as a proactive therapeutic option for male and female patients experiencing hair loss. PRP is an exciting non-surgical therapeutic option for patients who require stimulation of hair growth for hair loss conditions.

Recent scientific research and technology provides the medical community with new understandings of wound and tissue healing. As a result of these scientific studies, we know PRP is an all-natural medical procedure performed in physicians’ offices for hair loss or conditions causing hair thinning.

Fat Lipolysis injections

For the Face

Lipolysis is an innovative gentle non-surgical method to remove accumulation of fat deposits in specific regions of the body. It is one of the safest methods for removing, double chin, and fat around the waist, inner thigh and abdomen, under the upper arms, knees and ankles. It is also an extremely effective method for combating cellulite.

Lipolysis is used to improve the effects of dieting and exercise. Lipolysis for fat removal and cellulite treatment uses fat-dissolving phosphatidyl choline injected to the localized regions of the body. The treatment is performed by a specially trained doctor and involves painless micro-injections into the targeted fat layer beneath the skin. The gentle procedure takes less than 30 minutes.

Injection lipolysis is a safe method of removal of a small amount of excessive fat from the body. The method is based on dissolution of the fat tissue and its natural washing off from the body. This method is used for body contour modelling. The method is designed for patients with small areas of excessive fat around the body that cannot be burnt by diet or exercise and where liposuction is not indicated. The method is by no means a way to reduce obesity for it does not result in any general weight loss.

For the Body

The method is often used for reduction of double skin, removal of abdominal fat or fat cushions on the inner thighs or arm back or for improvement of cellulite. The method is indicated either for small areas or for areas not suitable for liposuction.
Unlike liposuction, which is a surgical method removing larger quantities of fat, injection lipolysis can be performed in the outpatient surgery without anaesthesia. After the intervention you need not wear the compressive elastic underwear and can immediately return to your daily chores. To a certain extent the method is an alternative to liposuction or its complement for fine body modelling.

Advantages of fat removal with injection lipolysis:

.A careful non-invasive method

.Fat is removed evenly

.Helps improve firmness and elasticity of the skin

.Outpatient treatment taking a couple of minutes

.Permanent result

Jaw contouring and neck rejuvenation

The Nefertiti neck lift is a new technique where the clinician injects along the jawline and neck of the patient. This treatment is carried out by one of our clinicians by placing multiple anti wrinkle injections of along the lower jawline as well as down the side of the neck along the plasma bands or plasma muscle it is possible to greatly improve the definition and indeed the life of the jawline. Simultaneous to lifting the jaw line is the rebalancing of the underlying muscles and provide ‘lifting’ in the neck and jaw area.

It was Queen Nefertiti who had a well -defined jawline and a long tight neckline, and it was she who set the precedence for these features being a sign of beauty and indeed youth. These youthful attributes date back to the Egyptians. So named the Nefertiti neck lift as Queen Nefertiti possessed a long youthful neck and was known for her youthful beauty and defined strong tight jawline.

Queen Nefertiti, whose bone structure continues to be admired in modern times.
The Nefertiti Neck Lift works by relaxing muscles beneath the jaw, which contribute to a down ward pull along the jaw.
Once these muscles are relaxed the net effect is an upward pull from facial muscles, creating a more defined looking jawline neck and face.

The Nefertiti Lift requires approximately 30 units of anti wrinkle injections product. For a lasting result the treatment needs to be repeated every 3 to 4 months as with all anti-wrinkle treatments.

The Nefertiti Lift is a relatively new procedure, which gives a longer less wrinkled neck and eradicates the ‘turkey neck’ seen in older women. The Nefertiti neck lift redefines the elegant lines of the jaw and neck for a youthful, tighter, more contoured appearance without the need for surgery. The loss of volume in the cheek area or the flattening of the cheek an indeed the loss of jawline definition are two of the major features of the ageing face. Anti wrinkle injections can now be used along the jawline to reduce sagging and indeed to rejuvenate the jawline.

Face lift by threads

A thread facelift is a convenient, less invasive alternative to traditional facelifts, designed for people experiencing early signs of aging, such as minor facial sagging. This innovative facelift procedure can be performed without anesthesia. During a thread facelift, the cosmetic physician inserts thin threads into the face through tiny incisions made in the targeted area. These threads attach to the skin tissue and are then pulled back to lift and smooth the face. Almost immediately, treated areas will be raised slightly, eliminating sagging and giving patients a rejuvenated appearance. Because patients usually remain fully conscious during the procedure, they can approve the look of their thread lift while the physician works. Once the threads are knotted, they become hidden within the skin itself, and any scarring that results will be virtually invisible.

Brow lift

What is a brow lift?

A brow lift or forehead lift reverses the effects of gravity and tightens the soft tissues of the forehead to restore a more youthful contour to your forehead skin, upper eyelids and eyebrows. As one ages, it is common for the brow to assume a flat or horizontal position. If a sagging brow inhibits your facial expression, a brow lift is a time-tested method for rejuvenating the upper third of your face. Every year, thousands of people undergo successful brow-lift surgery and are pleased with the results.

When to Consider a Brow Lift

  • Sagging or low eyebrow position creates a tired, sad or grumpy appearance
  • You have deep horizontal creases across the forehead
  • You have frown lines or furrows between the eyebrows or across the top of your nose
  • You have excess skin or fatty tissue hanging over your eyes
