Understanding which types of acne you are dealing with is the first step of effective treatment. You may experience one or more of the following acne blemishes:
Whiteheads are the result of clogged pores that remain sealed at the surface. They present as small, raised bumps that encapsulate the impurities.
Blackheads are the result of clogged pores opening up, allowing the oil and bacteria within them to oxidize upon exposure to air.
Papules are small, red and tender bumps that occur when the skin around the pore becomes inflamed. Papules tend to feel hard and give the skin a sandpaper texture.
Pustules are an evolution of papules. The blemishes are similar, except that pustules contain yellowish or white centers filled with pus.
Nodules are painful lumps that form deeper below the epidermis (surface layer of skin). Their presence often indicates a more severe form of acne.
Cysts are nodules filled with pus. They are the most painful and severe form of acne and can leave lasting scars if not treated appropriately.
Satisfied with the experience, my technician always recommends the best procedures on my face.
