What Is a Nefertiti Neck Lift?

The Nefertiti Neck Lift is a noninvasive way to rejuvenate the lower jaw and neck. This in-office procedure was named after Queen Nefertiti, known for her elegant features, including a chiseled jaw and long neck. During a Nefertiti Lift, a neuromodulator such as Botox or Dysport is injected into specific areas of the lower jaw and neck to relax muscles that contribute to an aged appearance. The result is a more elegant jawline and less visible neck bands.

How Does the Nefertiti Neck Lift Work?

The Nefertiti Neck Lift works by temporarily relaxing the platysma muscle, which is responsible for creating visible bands in the neck.

The platysma muscle is a large, superficial, paired muscle that extends from the lower face to the collar bones. As we age, this muscle weakens and shortens, pulling on the overlying skin and leading to the formation of neck bands. Injecting Botox into this muscle relaxes it and helps “release” some of this tension. Over time, the jaw area becomes more defined and the neck bands less visible.

Unlike more invasive procedures, the Nefertiti Lift is quick, comfortable and has no downtime. The whole process of getting a Nefertiti Lift is straightforward and involves the following steps.

Preparation

To prepare for treatment, you will need to schedule a consultation with one of our providers. This is an opportunity to discuss your concerns and goals and determine whether you can benefit from this procedure. If you are deemed a candidate, your provider will provide you with further instructions and explain what you can expect.

Treatment

During your treatment, your provider will start by marking areas to be treated. They will administer units of Botox or Dysport into predetermined points along your jawline and neck area. Most patients do not feel a significant amount of pain, only a tolerable pinching sensation.

Recovery

After treatment, it is important to avoid tugging and pulling the treatment area to prevent product migration. We also advise clients to avoid NSAIDs and other anti-inflammatory medications to minimize bruising. It is normal to experience some level of redness, swelling and minimal bruising. These side effects usually resolve within a few days.

Results

The Nefertiti Lift results take time to show. Clients usually first notice signs of improvement two weeks after their injections, which is how long it takes for the product to reach full potency, allowing your muscles to relax and skin to tighten and lift. Your results will last three to four months. To maintain your results, getting regular injections every couple of months is recommended.
