What Happens During Ozone Therapy?
There are different ways to administer ozone. A method is chosen based on the condition being treated and patient preference. The options include:
Ozone sauna
We can expose an area of your body to ozone gas using a protective covering, which is known as an ozone sauna.
Skin application
An alternative to ozone saunas is applying a solution with ozone directly to the skin. This is usually done to enhance wound healing.
Injections
Ozone injections are a great way to treat chronic musculoskeletal pain. The injections help increase circulation into the affected tissues, encourage collagen remodeling and reduce inflammation.
Insufflation
Another way to deliver ozone is by filling mucous-rich cavities, like the ears, with ozone gas. This helps deliver the therapeutic potential of ozone gas to the entire body.
Ingestion
You can also ingest ozone to deliver its benefits anywhere in the body. The gas is dissolved in water or oil at carefully selected doses for easy administration.
Auto blood transfusion
We can take a sample of your blood, dissolve ozone gas in it and then reintroduce it back into your body via an auto blood transfusion.
A typical ozone therapy session lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. Patients can have as many treatments as needed until they see improvement. The treatment is painless, but you may experience mild tingling when ozone gas touches your skin. Side effects may include headaches or nausea, which resolve on their own within the first day.
